Spec Me An £800 Computer

I don't think there are any ati and nvidia cards that support 3 monitors, only matrox ones.

So you'll need 2 pci graphics cards.


4GB of ram, 500gb hdd and a 2.4ghz quad-core cpu come to £560. Then just add a cheapo mobo, decent psu/case, 2 cheapo pci gpus and your done. Expensive graphics cards are a complete waste if you don't play games or render.

Isnt the Chieftec a bit outdated now?....... there's some really nice cases about now, that are really nice for building with. Feel free to post a model number (EDIT: NVM got it, i misread), i'm curious.

As to the 3 monitor setup, any 19 inch monitor x 3 would be suited no?.... or larger if you like, you got enough space for them or are they going to be wall mounted?

Can't find any PCI cards on OcUK, so maybe something like this would be better, though i don't know how its priced...

Ok, This is what i have so far, i would spec a AMD system but the top CPUs are out of stock.

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P

Memory - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz

Graphics Card - BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 - Got to carried away their lol.

Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB X2

DVD Drive - Pioneer DVR-112DBK 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter

Power Supply - Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

Total : £745.97

For gods sake, he's word processing and using the net, he doesnt need a 8800GTS for that. Its always worth reading the thread and not just the title.

Alright my mistake, no need for your attitude is their.

All you had to say is "Hey Stickroad i don't think Angus-Higgins will need so much GPU power".
 
Think you could do better then the chieftec, especially with newer cases using 120mm fans as standard, you'll have a decrease in noise for starters....

As for Monitors i would agree with Syk3. The Samsung one is post to be pretty good.
 
Agreed, i think you'd be better spending more cash on a good quality 19 inch monitor then a cheapo one, and the Samsung ones are some of the best, though a quick google with the model numbers will give you the required information.

Never hurts to research anything you plan to buy.

Perhaps get a widescreen in the middle & normal on the sides?

I think it would be a bit odd all normal sized?

Widescreen in the middle would look nice though!
 
i think I read somewhere that you can get some kind of adapter that allows you to use more that two monitors, which I guess would be cheaper. Try googling for it.

Apparently a very good monitor, as i said though, its always a good idea to research the parts you plan to buy.

That model in particluar is suppose to be a good one though.

i'm running one of those monitors at the moment

the bezel is 15 mm all round
never had any problems with it and i'm happy to recommend it :D
 
Got a small bezel on my 1907FPs, they came in at just under £200 :)

Why does he need to go PCI, surely dual PCI-Express would also work?

The adjustable height would be excellent, and I find the design rather aesthetically pleasing.
