I'll be needing everything (OS, mouse, keyboard and monitor) and it'll be used for playing games like BF3 and Skyrim. I've got a rough idea of what I want. I was looking at the 560ti as the graphics card.

I'll be able to spend a little bit more if it is worth it so the £800 isn't too rigid.

£800

Sounds like you could take a system like I'm building a few threads up and just round it out with extra peripherals.

Lets see. All the below you could surely get from the Overclockers shop which I just found out existed (google took me straight to the forums, sorry OCuk shop)

PSU: 650w OCZ 80+ Bronze ZS series. - £60
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-056-OC

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 AMD 880G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 MicroATX Motherboard - £52
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-369-GI&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=1782

Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition - £100
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-253-AM

Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 6870 - £120
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-205-XF&tool=3

HDD: 500GB Seagate Barracude 7200.12 SATA III - £50
can't find one of these on OCuk, but they're around.

Optical Drive: Sony 24x AD 7280S-0B Internal DVD-RAM - £20
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-046-OT

Memory: 4GB Corsair 2x2GB 1333 DDR3 - £23
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-330-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=

Extra Cooling: 2x 120mm cooling fans. Check ebay, should get 2 for around £12

Case Aerocool VS-3 Advanced Midi Tower Case Black - £35
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-012-AE

Thats about £475

Keyboard: CM Storm Quickfire Mechanical gaming keyboard - £63

Mouse: Razer Abyssus gaming mouse - £33

Monitor: Samsung S24B300BS 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - £140

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit - £80

That all comes to £316.

TOTAL AMOUNT - £790 give or take.

And that should play games like Skyrim on High, maybe Ultra but you'd be nearing 30FPS.

I'd avoid AMD like the plague

You could consider using the developers copy of windows 8 for a while. We could then reuse that £80 towards a better CPU or GPU for example

Thanks for the advice. Here's my basket at the moment. Is this any good? I also like the second set up posted by honosuseri.

Is it worth spending extra on this graphics card?

Or would this be a better alternative to the graphics card picture below?

Looks like I've forgotten the hard drive.

Thanks I'm also looking at this graphics card. Will a refurbished card be ok?

Think I might get this case instead too.

Very nice case for the price, fan controller etc...

That is a good card. Only a year warranty,

- 1yr Warranty with OcUK
- This is a refurbished fully functional product, it may have minor visual defects and is just a bare card, no cables, drivers etc.
Shouldn't be an issue, but worth noting.

If you can stretch to a 7850 its a very good option.
