So I had a BSA comet, which was, hmmm, 12 years old maybe, but I took it to the range the other day, and it was shooting all over the place. Turns out the barrel got slightly warped, I suspect it was my fault as I had the inside of the barrel caked in oil for storage, which I didn't clean out before firing.

I wasn't that bothered if I'm honest. Went and bought a Remington Warhawk, underleaver .22 which in theory was a fantastic rifle, and I really liked it, however there was a fault with the mechanism that was causing the underleaver to unclip and hang down. Shame because otherwise a great underleaver for £200, the guy in the shop reckoned the other one he had would do the same and I think he is going back to Remington as he got faulty stock. Got a refund on that anyway.

So......

I am after an underleaver .22, springer, needs to have the 11mm rail, budget, well the Warhawk was £200 but not sure if I am asking too much for that kind of money and need to spend a bit more?

Well if it has to be an underlever then a HW97K would be my choice. Very tunable, done a lot of work on these rifles. Reliable and accurate. Top one in this pic is a .22 HW97. I wouldn't discount break-action rifles so quick though.

Hi thanks for your reply. Do you run some kind of shop or do you do gunsmithing?

Anyway, I've done some research and came up with the same conclusion, there is one with a stainless/nickel barrel, £450 I found online. Supposed to be the best springers you can get. Very nearly pulled the trigger (forgive the pun) but thought, £450 is a lot for an air rifle, and I'm close to getting my firearms license, so I've decided to put the £200 refund I got today in the bank and put it towards a cartridge powered rifle.
