Hey guys, im in the market for a new gaming / general use system. I was wondering what you would reccomend for a budget of 1500. This has to include a monitor with HDMI (as i will be hooking up a xbox). I dont need speakers or an operating system.

I was thinking of going down the phonom 2 / 4890 route for the best bang for buck. what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!
Scott

well ive always been a AMD fan so id say go for ir this is what im planning on building any time now and its running 8GB ram and 2 graphics cards all i need to get is PSU as i have chosen the Antec 902 case heres wht my setuo will be?

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £200
CPU Cooler: Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM3/LGA775) £29
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard £165
GPUx2: XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB GDDR5 £165 each so £330
RAM: OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel (OCZ3P13334GK) £103 total 8GB
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3500418AS) £43
DVD Drive: Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM £20

Now without the case and PSU it comes to around £900 so you could tweak some parts and still be well under budget

Hi and welcome to forums, for that budget you can get better, an i7 system and 4870x2 paired with a nice 24" HD monitor, this uses DVI which is same signal quality as HDMI, just without the audio
