Spec me an electric oven please

What's needed is a free standing, single electric oven with grill and hob. Doesn't have to be too big as it's only for two people in a flat. The kicker is that as there are some vouchers that need to be used it really needs to be purchased from Argos - unless of course there are any truly stunning deals elsewhere.

Decent energy efficiency and construction quality are desirable i.e. it's not going to give up the ghost or the hob turn to rust in a couple of years.

Any tips as to what would be a good one from the Argos range please? Prices seem to go from £150 to over £400. Ideally something in the £200 range would do, but if they are all garbage then convince me that the extra spend its worth it. :D

For example this claims to be "recommended" and reduced from £279.99 to £159.99:

Also, anything to watch out for when buying a large item from Argos such as hidden delivery costs and issues?

IT is what it is.

I don't think its a serious size for a dinner party kind of family, but for cooking a roast meal all on 1 shelf it seems to be ideal at that price.

Its the sort of price range where if it goes wrong after the guarantee packs up you just bin the thing. I dont think you will find amazing quality for that kind of price range.

I don't imagine there will be hidden costs. Maybe an extra cost to take away an old one ? I've shopped with Tesco Direct before and tbh it was a good service no problems at all. I imagine Argos will be similar.

Thank you for the input. I was kind of expecting the first response to be someone telling me they are all junk and to avoid Argos at all costs!

Make sure the space for it is 50 cm, not 60 cm, as otherwise you will have a nasty gap for gunk to fall down whilst cooking!

That Flavel one from Argos has been on offer since at least Dec 2012. My sister bought that one ready to move into a house that had no cooker as it was cheap. She didn't get that house in the end so she sold it to a family friend as it was too late to return it. Far as I know it is still going strong.

Also who pays to have white goods taken away...? Stick it at end of drive and a ***** will have it away in less than a day.

Good to know.
