My ceramic hob is on the way out (finally) so I've been looking for a replacement and induction hobs seem to be the way to go if you can't get gas.

My budget is £300-£450.

The front runners so far are:
Siemens EH651TA16E (Just over budget but great reviews and reputation)
Ikea Folklig (under budget, 5 yr warranty and free delivery)
Ikea Tydlig

Has anyone got any other recommendations or experiences?

I can't help you directly with choosing an induction hob.

I guess you've probably made up your mind, though for what it's worth, I'm a former chef, and the most recent kitchen I worked in had induction hobs. You are definitely making the right choice. I absolutely loved them. Just as responsive as gas, more powerful, more efficient and far safer also.

Just make sure you get good pans to use on them. A chain's only as strong as its weakest link and all that.

Thanks for the replies! It's good to know that I'm not barking up the wrong tree with induction.

The Bosch was actually one that I was considering, I might give it another look as I've seen it at £389. I like the look/spec on the De Dietrich stuff but it's way over budget for me :(

Just bought the Bosch PIA611T16E. It was the same spec as the Siemens but a fair amount cheaper. It's due for delivery next week.
