Looking for an internal card reader, preferably one that offers a front USB2 socket (not essential though) and that supports xD cards.

Can only find one from Enlight that supports xD cards (can't link, competitor site) but it's only available in black - I need one that's in good ol beige.

Oh yeah, and preferably doesn't have an "always on" power light.

Any ideas? xD card support seems very rare - or are they compatible with another card socket type (SD or whatever)

TIA.

Thanks MofoKiller, but unfortunately it doesn't support xD cards (unless as I say xD is compatible with another socket, but I don't know if that's the case)

:( No-one?

Someone surely on OcUK has an internal card reader that takes xD?

Anybody? pppllllllleeeease??

cant name it but on a competitor theres a "53-in-1" one (their own cheap brand) which can come in either of beige or black and supports xd, none of the ones on here take xd cards :(

Think I've found the one you mean. In fact I think I've found a couple now. Most look like pretty cheap models though, so I'll see what reviews I can find.

I think you'll have to try hard to find an expensive one, and if you do you'll be wasting money - there isn't really much to them. As you've found out, the hard part is finding one that has all the slots you want ...

Be careful with internal readers and Xd cards. I fitted one to a friend's PC and then found it only takes Xd cards up to 256MB - same as SM with which it shares a slot. We were not pleased....

Snapshot, what make have you got? (I'll google the store, but knowing the model would help.)

It looks like a few manufacturers advertise their readers as taking xD, but store web sites don't include it on the spec. Don't understand why that would be.

Snapshot, do you need an adapter to use the xD card in an SM slot?

True, but some just look really tacky. I've seen one in a local store to me that costs a tenner and just looks nasty. The same one online is about £6, so by "expensive" I'm really looking for the ones that cost about £12-15 online I guess.
