Spec me an LED Torch

Should work but 2 possible issues, 1st is the 3xaaa carriers tend to be shorter than 18650 batteries so you would need a spacer.

2nd is what light is it? as if it is a multi emitter then you may find the aaa batteries unable to deliver enough current, actually you may find that even with a single emitter if it is a well driven XM-L.

I bought this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008BXSMOO/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and decided to try it with the 14500 Nitecore battery - its about twice as bright!

Question - How does this 'G3' differ to my '7W'? http://www.amazon.co.uk/CREE-400-LU...id=1386622746&sr=1-13&keywords=zoomable+torch

Looking for a single 14500 / AA zoomable torch of good quality. Don'th think I will find one so may aswell test a few £2.50 ones!

Absolutely no difference between those that I can see. CHinese torch land is full of duplicate items. How bright is it on a standard AA? I have loads of eneloop nimh AA cells, and prefer to stick with them where possible. Keep being tempted by Lithium, just can't be bothered with the faff!

Just ordered a Cree XM -L T6 5 mode that uses two 18650 batteries - be interesting to see how good it is.

Wish still lived in old house - no light's for miles and torch's were rubbish when I was there.

SolarForce L2 series with your choice of drop in :)

SF Store currently has deals on with their latest U2 emitters too. mine was $16 for a 960 lumen 3 mode unit. Will replace the 300lumen one in there currently.

Hi guys,

My friend wants to buy some torches for their new house, they want a total of 5 torches

They want normal hand-sized LED torches taking AA's or AAA's

They would like 5 and try to be under £50 for the lot

I was hoping you yodas would be able to direct me :)

thanks

Buy 4 of those cheapster £2.60 ones and 1 decent one. Or 14500 batteries to make them run nice as mentioned and it'd need a charger most likely

Is that Video the 4Sevens Mini AA, AA S2 or Mini MA?

The AA S2 is 70 lumens and MA is 90

http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/4sevens/foursevens-mini-ma.html

£34 for the Mini MA which may take it to ~300-400 lumens if the video is showing the standard Mini AA.

Zebralight SC52 can run on a standard AA at 280 L and 500 L for 1 minute with a 14500 before stepping down to 280 (but the SC52 does cost about twice as much as the 4Sevens)

Could someone help me spec my dad a torch.

He's a farmer so:

It would need to be bright and have a good range (checking fields at night)
Strong/sturdy
Good battery life
Not too bulky, could be put in a large coat pocket

I was looking at the Nitecore P16

Budget is max £65

I have absolutely no idea what I am looking for, just some quick browsing through the last few pages put me on the Nitecore website. I believe the P16 comes with batteries on their website

Yes, it comes with 1x18650 or 2xCR123A

I have heard this is also quite good (but comes with no battery)

http://www.torchdirect.co.uk/olight-torches/olight-m21-x-l2-warrior-led-torch.html

You will need to get a charger for the P16 but it looks like a good torch (never heard of it to be honest)

My budget has changed to £100 max (inc batteries+charger)

I'm reading about "step down" after a couple of 2-3 minutes which is putting me off the P16. Seems this is a general safety feature but other lights have longer step down times. I also see some lights with built in chargers. Any other recommendations?

My new torch arrived today - a XML T6 and ordered it without batteries - It takes two 18650 and was hoping to use two of those AAA holders in it - unfortunately the diam is to small so it's 18650 -

So just ordered a Charger with two batteries and two spare batteries - What are the odds of it getting here from China if order isn't cancelled by Amazon due to sending Li-ion in post.

The highest rated emitters I can see for the L2 are these

Do you have a link to the 960 please?

Thanks for the info again Mrk!

Got it from Play.com for 9.99 - no batteries - as I said I hoped the 3 AAA holders will fit but no luck - they are to big. - Torch to me is just the right size - not to big and not to small -- Just got to wait for charger and batteries to come now.
