Spec me an LED Torch

Jackpot!

Just pulled a battery apart at work from the battery recycling box and there are 2 battery packs with 18 x 18650 cells, no capacity is stated, measured one at 3.7 volts, could be of use?

I'll get some pics later.

Any battery that comes out of the pack > 3.7v, put it on charge (supervised) and any that charge to >4.1 and don't get hot doing so, set aside. Any that are already <3.7v, get hot or don't get to 4.1v - bin them (well recycle them actually).

The ones that seem ok, store them in a normal room temp environment for 24 hrs and test the voltage again - any that show less that a 0.05v drop after 24hrs are good and keep them - if any sag by more than 0.05v bin them (e.g. 4.11v then 4.05v after 24hrs = bin).

Oh, and don't blow yourself yup when dismatling the pack!

LED Lenser T7, got myself one , great torch!

Not really - there are tons of other torches I'd have at that price (£35ish) over an LED Lenser.

Well every time i buy a cheap torch it doesn't seem to last from one year to the next so now waiting for a ShiningBeam S-mini XM-LT6, TrustFire protected 18650 2400mAh (no AW's but considered a decent budget alternative on CPF) and a XTAR WP2 II charger. This will be a EDC torch for the dark mornings and nights.

Since I bought 4 18650's will probably buy a C8 to leave at work since it won't matter when my staff inevitably break it!

If I could think of a reason for owning one I would also add a BC40.... but it would just sit on a shelf.

On a side note some of the custom torches out there look too good to use !

The BC40 isn't just a torch, it is also an offensive weapon that's almost unbreakable!

Yup - but use the links I gave you - cheaper - $17.75 vs £20 (so £11.10 in real money).

Redilast have their own website @ http://www.redilast.com/ that you can order online from.

Ouch

Redilast Protected 18650 Li-ion Cells P18650-3100 x 3

Total $67.75 USD

That's it. 2 torches, 3 batteries. That's enough LED torch lol One for the car, and one for the house.

Get the 2900 ones, they're exactly as good and cheaper.

The capacity of the 3100mAh Panasonic cells drops to below 2900 in just 20 cycles, but the 2900mAh cells last at above 2900 for more than 50. :)
