Spec me an LED Torch

Also, AFAIK Eneloops are rated at 2000MAh, so you might get less than the claimed run times as they will no doubt have been tested with the highest MAH batteries available.

Eneloops would be perfect for a torch for emergency or to keep in your car etc, as they don't self discharge like normal NIMH batteries.

Thing is, other batteries discharge faster than Eneloops in general. I get longer run times on my L2D with Eneloops than i do on my apparently 2400 Energisers.

With Eneloops i get approximately 1hr 30 mins (4.5 Journeys to work)
With Energisers i get approximately 1hr 10 (Just under 4 journeys before they go flat)

My Eneloop AA is eaten alive by the G700 mouse. It will last a day of usage whereas my Vapextech AAs will last 2-3.

Eneloop batteries aren't the top of the brass for all occasions, Vapex most likely are and they're a bit cheaper than Eneloops too :p

Anyone who has bought an Ultrafire C8 from ebay, did yours come with a plastic lens and reflector? I wouldn't of minded but the lens is covered in scratches and there is even crap on the reflector and a paint bubble. It states in the listing "fortified glass lens" as well.

Have sent an email but doubt i'll get a reply. Might have to neg him as I don't like it when listings are wrong and they don't change it even after a complaint.

I guess it could be because mine is the older XR-E Q5 version. But it does say in the listing that it is glass. I only bought it as a super cheap torch to keep in the car, but even still i'd have liked a glass lens that isn't full of scratches.

Complaining might get you a partial PayPal refund, maybe enough to buy a spare lens from somewhere. E.g. the charger I bought didn't come with a UK plug despite me requesting one, so the guy refunded me $2 and I bought one on eBay.

What the hell then :/. There couldn't possibly be such thing as a fake Ultrafire torch could there? Its got a cree led inside it and everything else looks the same as pictures I have seen. Just a plastic lens instead of glass. Also came loose in a jiffy bag and not in any Ultrafire packaging.

Robbie G, good idea, I might ask for him to send me a glass lens or a partial refund.

Just send a message saying it's not as advertised, they will reply back apologising 1000 timesand say they will sort it out because you being happy is very important.

They will send you a new C8 I reckon.

Mine has a glass lens and metal reflector. Even bought a aluminium reflector as you can see in my pic above as I was expecting it to be plastic but it's not!

I got this one - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230691668849?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_6529wt_1396

LOL!

Just mangled the O-ring up by screwing the tailcap on lmao.

I did the same. All the o-rings on mine seemed to have splits in them for some reason and clearly will not stand 'multiple screws'. Hence I'm ordering...

I have also just ordered an orange peel reflector...

and a replacement tailswitch (my fault)...

...so people can see that these cheap torches are certainly not a walk in the park to maintain. However I'll still have spent far less as a result of manufacturing defects than had I bought a Fenix or something with equivalent brightness (£8.50 torch, £2.79 washers). Also I enjoy the fiddling, as I've learnt something about multimeters and very basic electronics!

Nice soldering on the -ve there...

:p

PS Mark, that still looks like glass to me (from what I can tell from a pic on the internet), albeit scratched to hell.

Its definitely not glass, it flexes and feels like plastic when you tap it. Also has the tell tale little plastic nub on the side where it was removed from the injection moulding runner.

I like the fact there are spares available online though. Thanks for the links, I might get a glass lens and an alu reflector. Would be a half decent torch then.
