Hello ladies. Itching to get an Oculus Rift as they look chuffing marvellous, but my machine is pap and won't be around to run any games to play on it. Could you guys spec me a machine that will run games capable of working with the oculus rift?

Assume it will one day be the 1080p version. I'm not sure if that means just 1080p or if it is twice that cos of the stereo vision?

What are the minimum system requirements for the Oculus Rift developer kit?

The computer must have an HDMI or DVI video-out port. Note that VGA is unsupported at this time. Other than that, there are no minimum specifications, though the more powerful the computer, the better the experience will be. Any standard gaming computer should be sufficient to use the Oculus Rift.

So whats your budget ?

I'm kinda in the same situation but it should be possible to get a base unit (without top spec graphics card) for around £500 then upgrade the graphics. There we go sorted :)

Also even though i really want to buy the Oculus im waiting for the consumer release.... Theres also talk of various side effects users of the dev kit are suffering from....waiting to see how that pans out.

Budget is against the performance required I guess. Some builds on here are 600 quid ish, but would rather it be less as I already have a case and HDDs. So I need a cpu, ram, mobo, pau and graphics card.

Thinking something around an Nvidia gtx 760, or equivalent. I don't really know where to start with processors and the motherboard. Psu can be as nasty as possible to be cheap. :p

Well it would have to work but I don't want anything flash, that's all. :p

Ok, I'm thinking i5-4670 with a gtx 760. Would that cope with most things at 1080p? What motherboard would offer best performance for the £, and ram?

Ok, ended up buying a i7-4770 (not the K version) as it turned out to be only a few more quid than the i5 I was looking at. Can someone recommend me a board on that basis? Should I be getting a Z87 board, various places have said that they are better laid out and with more ports than the H version. Is that right?

Why did you buy a non K version CPU?

Would have been better off with a K series i5 and an overclock instead of a non-K i7.

Well Z would have been nice to have if you had a clockable chip, but being as you don't you can just downgrade to a H board to save some £££'s.
