This is for a friend at work, and I'm trying to come up with something I can build her. That would beat a rubbish laptop. I as thinking an mitx build with an i3, ssd and 1tb HDD, maybe 8gb ram and WiFi card. No gpu needed as no gaming.

Doable under 500 quid? Not sure if she needs Windows

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £471.53
(includes shipping: £11.70)

Case is available in other colours.

5-year warranty on PSU.

OcUK don't stock any budget Skylake mini-ITX boards for DDR4 RAM. Not sure if there are any in existence. So it's for DDR3 and Asus advises using below 1.5v for the memory. Went for that Corsair kit as it states it can be run at 1.45v. Probably most can be run at that voltage but at least the official specs give the buyer something to fall back on in case of instability.

To avoid the above, you could go with this instead:

Not fussed about ddr4 as she won't notice any ram bandwidth changes, although the extra 4gb of RAM would make it worthwhile. That's exactly the sort of build I was looking for, thanks very much!
