So, I am now looking at sinking my teeth into a nice in-depth RPG. Doesnt really matter what setting, as long as I can 'bond' with the characters and the graphics are reasonable.

I used to play Baldurs Gate and NeverWinter Nights, alas, I'm not too keen on those anymore :(.

So can you guys spec away please?

I was going to suggest Dragon Age, but that might be too similar to BG/NWN.

Mass Effect 1&2 for the Action/RPG angle with unparalled story and character depth.

Fallout 3&NV if you prefer a more open ended, adventurous approach to gaming.

Dragon Age is NWN+, only without the D&D rules.

Dragon Age is not +anything+ like Baldur's Gate. Totally different games.

Of course it is. BG2 and Call of Duty are totally different.

DA and BG2 are both top down, party driven RPG's. They're very similar.

Well, those of us who love BG but don't like DA would beg to differ ;) Unless we're just completely mad...?

This, this, THIS!

And Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2.

Best modern RPGs out there.

I know people are going to get mad, but stuff 'em :p

If the Witcher and DA:O are some of the best modern CRPGs, this last decade may as well not have happened. Both are mediocre games at best.

trying out fallout 2 and hopefully planescape torment for myself tommorow, i found BG2 quite hard to get into tbh, im just not used to the old style RPGs.

You need to be more specific

party based or 1 character?

first person or 3rd person or isometric?

hard core or rpg-lite or dungeon siege?

combat: turn based or real time ?

I'm currently (albeit on hold due to COD:BO) playing Divinity 2 Dragon Knight Saga and it's worth a shot! If you can excuse the mish-mash of accents the game is great imo.

Also I know it's not a game but read the song of ice and fire series instead of playing sometimes because it's amazing!
