I have recently completed final fantasy x, and want to play a great game that is like that.

I have fallout 3, and oblivion to play through (when my damn xbox comes back from repair!) , but want to play something final fantasyerierierie...

So what have you got for suggestions - I have a DS , Wii , 360 , ps2 and ps3.

Cheers!

Also, when does FF13 come out?

You can't go far wrong with FF3 or 4 for the DS, or indeed Chrono Trigger. As for 13, this time next year is a very conservative estimate. Japan will probably get it about Christmas, localisations are generally 3 - 6 months later...

In other words you want a JRPG and so a few from the top of my head,

Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
Rogue Galaxy (PS2)
Persona 3 or 4 (PS2)
Tales of Vesperia (Xbox360)
Eternal Sonata (Xbox360 or PS3)
Valkyrie Chronicles (PS3)
Chrono Trigger (DS)
Final Fantasy III or IV (DS)
Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (DS)

As for FFXIII, for Japan, sometime this year, for us, next year.

I know your after something final fanasy-esque, and also that my suggestion isnt totally an RPG (more FPSRPG or at least liek Fallout 3 lol) but I would recommend Mass Effect :)

Ill probably have to go down the ds route for a turn based RPG.

Chrono Trigger is the one that was on SNES wernt it? Never had a snes, but I hear its rated quite highly. Whats the best RPG on the DS?

The best RPGs for the DS are easily the ones I already listed above. Even the next major numbered Dragon Quest (No. 9!) has become a DS game, although it has been delayed for a while. Blood of Bahamut is another interesting upcoming DS title too.

I love RPG's and providing there done correctly are the most involving games you'll ever play.

Personally i found fallout 3 to be incredibly boring and repetitive
but oblivion on the other hand is an amazing open world game and has hundreds of hours of gameplay and is so involving.

But IMO no RPG beats Mass Effect story, characters, gameplay, art design and visuals are nothing short of spectacular and cant wait for the sequel.

What type of RPG do you want?

JRPG? if so then Lost Odyssea is pretty good

But if you have not played Mass Effect yet then get it immediately!

While Valkyria Chronicles is nothing like FFX in terms of gameplay i rate it as the best JRPG i've played since FFX, it really is brilliant. It just has that classic JRPG feel, the characters, the setting and the graphical style just ooze quality.

Failing that there's obviously the older final fantasies; if you haven't played FFVII you're mental.

Valkyria Chronicles for the Ps3
Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect for the Xbox 360.

These 3 titles = Win.

These are relatively old games mind you but they're pretty darn good imo.

2 more Cartoony RPG's on the Xbox. Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata. Well they are quite 'childish' to a certain degree but fun nonetheless I suppose.

If you havent played it, definately pickup the Chronotrigger DS re-release. Tis a gem of a game that never got released in europe before, got an original US SNES cart of it here.

Also as mentioned Valkyria, Lost Oddysey, Eternal Sonata and Mass Effect are all very good RPGs, and different from the likes of Oblivion/Fallout.
Fable 2 might be worth a pop as well, although thats more action/lite-RPG.

Lost Oddysey is the most FF-esque out of those as it was made by some of the original FF team, but it can be quite unforgiving. Eternal Sonata is the next closest, and awesome but a lil wierd at the same time.

Not just "some", the game is helmed by the original "creator" of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi.

Aye, Uematsu onboard as well, but thats by the by. Its very FF-esque, because some of the original team is onboard, dont think he needs to know more really :D

LO reminds heavily of FF7 in some areas as well, similar feel.

Another Vote for Valkyria Chronicles.

I'm not a big JRPG person, but I'm fudging loving it at the moment.

I was quite enjoying Eternal Sonata when it came out, but I suffered the RRoD and have still yet to get back into it a year later. :(

+1 for Lost Oddysey. Fantastic game, some parts were a bit time consuming and annoying but overall its very like FF.

Also as said before mass effect.

I'll jump in again with Lost Oddysey, most FF like game in ages (feels much more FF than the recent actual FF games do).

Well worth grabbing, and it can be had for peanuts.

And again, Mass Effect, superb game, great story, great game. Can't wait for the ME2 :D
