As in title, I'm after something that has a bit of a story to it, and something with good graphics to keep me entertained. I gave DAO a shot, but found it a bit too complex for an uninitiated rpg player like myself, so something more like fable 2 in terms of simplicity please! I like the idea of running around hacking things up and levelling up characters, but not the idea of working out hitpoints etc. Does anyone have anything that springs to mind? Cheers!

Mass Effect?
Knights of the Old Republic?
Fable?
Borderlands?
Fallout 3?
Bioshock?

What's the first fable like compared to the second? I presume the graphics will be a bit blocky etc, but in terms of gameplay is it much the same?

I was thinking about fallout 3, might check it out as I kinda missed it when it came out.

Speaking of star wars, what's the Force Unleashed like? I always like being the bad guy.

You'll struggle to find something less complex than Dragon Age.

That rules out:
Baldur's Gate
Fallout
Any D20 game
Any Final Fantasy game
Pokemon

.... and most other things.

Apart from the lousy AI system, Dragon Age is a very simples game. You control one character at a time, and you have a limited selection of spells to choose from, which are very straightforward heal x amount or damage y amount.

Heck, you can even let the computer level your characters for you...

I'm struggling to think of something as easy to pick up and play than DA (although don't take this as a recommendation - I'm not a fan).

It was more the micro management than the complexity of it. Having to constantly pause the game to adjust what a character was going to do really slowed it down for me. I have no problem doing all that in turn-based combat like FF, but that was the main reason I dropped DAO

The Witcher. It's got a slow start, but comes into it's own after the first chapter, it's a very action orientated RPG, lots of hacking and slashing. You play it solo, there's no party members to worry about.

Rock on, I think that'll be my next port of call, and perhaps fable as a fallback. Awesome, cheers guys.

I bought it for £9.98 last week in my local GAME. Odd price.

.97 and .98 are EOL and clearance prices. Usually as good indicator that the price will fall slowly over time (wednesdays usually at the indian food store I work at), but after a certain amount of time they get written off so getting timing right is key. I suggest hiding it in the store somewhere for a month or two (so it doesn't get sold) then buying that shiznit on the cheap!
