Right so now I'm bored of WoW, I decided to go back to RTS's. But turn based ones are cool too.

I prefer old'en days, swords and bows etc.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I saw Medival:Total war, anyone got an opinion on it?

Get Medieval 2: Total war with the stainless steel mod. Many, many hours of great gaming. The late era does involve gun powder but it's still mainly swords and stuff. Get Rome: Total war if you don't like the sound of that. I'm not even a huge RTS fan but it's probably my favourite series of games ever.
 
Civ4 and the Warlords expansion too? Civ4 Colonization is out end of September too.

Can't fault the above suggestion though :)

Could wait for Spore? I know it's not swords etc. but it's eagerly awaited by a lot of people.
 
Get medieval 2 total war, and Rome perhaps if you want too, I still like Rome best personally :).

Unfortunately there aren't many modern RTS games these days any more that concentrate on the medieval times. Back in the old days you had much more choice...

Anyways rome total war gold is on steam for 19 dollars, medieval 2 is still 49 but I guess you can look for it elsewhere cheaper...
 
Warhammer Battle March might be your cup of tea?

Personally though, you life remains incomplete until you have played the Warcraft 3 games and the expansions. Epically epic.

Sounds like he's already done that - presume he played WC3/etc before moving onto DOTA.
