Hey all, looking at getting back into PC gaming and i used to love RTS games. Whats out there at the moment thats worth a go

sc2 even if you dont do mp, the sp is really good and the expansions out next year so if you wont have long to wait to comtinue the story. (as they link into a trilogy)

Surprised nobody has mentioned Starcraft 2 yet. I'd recommend Shogun 2: Total War.

I don't agree with starcraft 2 as the one and only choice for an RTS game as personally I found the multiplayer to be crap. Supreme commander 1+exp and 2 (fully patched only) are seriously good RTS games along sides the likes of the total war series which can be picked up nice and cheap now also.

I'd also recommend Civilisation 5 which is simply stunning. BurtonJ from valve has 1856 games on his steam account, yet only ever plays that

Lots of different rts styles in this post. Would certainly second recommendations for starcraft 2, Supreme commander + FA (for the mass large scale superepicbattlegame) and the Civ games (turn-based).

Can be brutally hard if you don't know what to do or don't act quick enough, but I certainly wouldn't call it crap. :confused:

Im a big fan of DOW 2 its got the gameplay of CoH but has the differant unit elements which just make it fun. Like jump troops and combat etc, plus the differant heroes that can get wargear and make a big differance and change the way every game is played.

Plus it can be picked up cheap too, I will always teach you the ropes too

Edit, I am not a fan of SC2 I have it and don't like the reliance on gettign a good start and buildings placedc at exact times. DOW2 and CoH focuses more on the control and tactical use of units.

Men of War: Assault Squad. It's 75% off on steam right now, came out earlier this year. Amazing world war 2 RTS. Compared to Company of Heroes there's more micro managing involved.
