Have really got into sea swimming of late and really enjoying the sights I find including the wildlife..Id like to get some decent quality shots, including film if possible.

Any suggestions? upto £500 would be my budget. Things like water temp, GPS and water depth would be really nice but Im really interested in the quality of the shot.

thanks in advance,

I don't know of any under water cameras outright. However, there are many cameras you can get a water sealed outer body for. If you did find a fully sealed camera I'd expect it to be a lot more than £500 if it was any good at taking pictures.

I'd start looking at the entry to mid range mirror-less cameras or high end compacts like the Sony RX100 series or the Panasonic LX100, or LX10/15. These will be compact and more than good enough for good quality photos, at least 1080p video (4k if you look at Panasonic, Olympus or Sony) and have things like GPS tagging. You then get a water sealed outer body and you have a great camera that you can use in and out of the water.

Your budget won't really stretch to a high end compact or entry level interchangeable lens camera with a water proof housing don I'd suggest the Olympus tg5 which is probably the best of the rugged compacts. If you fancy something a bit unusual then if you can find a used Nikon aw1 it should be in budget and quite an impressive performer.
