Looking to finally update my 6600/4GB/ATI 5850 based system, still considering Sandybridge despite the SATA issues.

Seems i5 only slightly behind i7 in terms of gaming performance, so likely better value right?

I'm gaming on a 22' at 1680x1050 and primarily RTS and flight sims (RoF/FSX/IL2)

Is it worth considering a graphics card update also at that resolution ?

Looking to spend around £700

Cheers

Do you have a case/psu/harddrive to carry over too? keeping the 5950 is a good choice for that resolution.

So you could just be looking at a new CPU/RAM and Motherboard?

Was looking to update the case from and old CM Stacker to Fractal R3 Midi.

I have a 620w Corsair PSU and plenty of HDDs so good on that front.

Cheers

All good on the OS and optical drive front. Was considering a 60GB SSD for the build but I guess its dependent on the need to upgrade my GPU from the 5850.

2500K vs 2600k - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=287 2600K isn't worth the extra for gaming.

Keeping your PSU/DVD drive/HDD and 5850.

The motherboard does Crossifre and SLI so adding another 5850 is a simple case of plug and play:)

Quality, cheers Stulid - assuming I'd probably need to update the PSU for Crossfire down the line.
