I play cod4 heavily and wanting to compete i need to get atleast 125 stable or even 250 but i doubt it as my budget wont allow.

Ideally i want to spend as little as possible but looking towards £100?

I have overclocked and with the CLAWHAMMER (edited)its not been very good :(

Thermaltake butterfly 480w bad 12v rails
AMD 4000+ Clawhammer @ 2530
x850 xt pe 256mb pci-e 575 / 615
Gigabyte ga-k8xnp sli
2gig pc 3200 corsair ram (Havent clocked ram or changed timings)
Thermaltake xaser 5000 case its pretty cool with a lot of fans
Default cooling but would look good investing ;)

On lowest settings i can obtain 125fps on cod4 BUT its never stable and i have tried various resolutions from 800 x 600 --> 1280 x 1024 I still cant obtain a stable framerate especially when shooting or an explosion

SOLUTION? UPGRADE!

You appear to be a little bit confused here, you don't have a Conroe because Intel are the ones with Conroe chips, you list an AMD which I'm guessing is single core and that probably makes it a San Diego core but it could be Clawhammer and possibly one other I can't remember offhand.

A new graphics card might help a bit but realistically I'd think a full core upgrade would be required to make much of a difference.

My spec gets around 70FPS @ high so if you got a x1950 pro for about £70 (last time i checked) I'm sure you would get 100+ on low/medium.

because the RECOIL is soo much smoother, it becomes harder to hit enemies at a distance when ** FPS drops which becomes bigger the more bullets you use... Tried and tested and its like this for sure :P

p.s i changed the name to clawhammer not conroe rofl

i think my friend might be giving me his 4200 amd ;)

That should b nice certainly if overclocked?
so 3870? arent those a lot more expensive tho?

3850 if your gaming at 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 at a push. Can be had for just over £100 or the 512mb version for about £120. The 3870 is a little to close to the 8800GT in cash terms but is a fair bit slower.
