Spec me an upgrade for my current system.

It's pretty high end anyway, I'm just curious how much I can improve it for the sort of money I'm willing to spend.

At the moment the system is:

AMD Athlon X2 3800+
2gb RAM
A 40gb Maxtor drive and an 80gb Maxtor drive (they are like 3 years old)
ATI X1800XT

I've got £500-600 to spend. I could probably push it a little bit, but not too much. What's my best bet?

For £426.48 inc VAT you could get:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) - This is if your current RAM isnt DDR2

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler

That would whap the pants off what you currently have, and the money youd save from £600 could go onto a DX10 card next year. You could replace the HDD with a 200Gb Seagate 7200.10 and still have plenty of cash left over.

Indeed it would, as thats pretty much the same spec as mine, bar the RAM (I have the 5300 version )
