Hmmm...looks like one of my graphics cards has died, so I'm considering a change up of one or more components.
Current spec is:

Fx51, MSI K8n Neo Platinum, 2*1Gb Geil Value 3200, 2*6800GT in SLI, 1*74Gb Raptor, 2*120Gb Maxtor in RAID0, Zboard, Logitech mx1000
Its all housed in a nice Lian Li PC70 full tower, plenty of space and it runs cool.
HSF is an Asus Star Ice....its a bit big...

I could try and find a 6800gt to replace the one I have, and it wouldnt cost much, but if I did upgrade, what are the recommendations?
I have kind of dropped off the pace on hardware, so am completely out of step with recent developments/needs - is dual core worth it? will Vista do anything (really) for gamers?
Usage is(was) mostly playing games - BF2/2142/FPS style - and my original rig was struggling slightly on my Acer 1280*1024 LCD.

I can't spend £1500-£2000 on a completely new system, and some of the items above can I'm sure be retained.
I guess I'm asking whether I could get an "interim" upgrade - say on GFX - at a reasonable price, without wasting the power of an 8800 range card or conversely having to upgrade CPU/MB to make the most of it.
If I had a budget of say £500 (could go up or down somewhat depending on bang-for-bucks) where would it be best to go?

Cheers
