Spec me an upgrade

I'm feeling the need to upgrade my current machine, here's what i've got ;

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz
Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R Micro-ATX Mobo
ATI Radeon HD 4850 (512MB) also an Asus 5770 (1GB)
4GB PC-6400 RAM
300GB Segate HDD

After installing my 5770 im not getting much of a performance boost so im feeling my system is letting me down.

My motherboard supports 'Celeron D, Pentium 4, Pentium D, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Extreme'.

Any help would be appreciated

you want a second hand Q6600

why not search for threads with Q6600 in them in the members market.

a quad core CPU with loads of cache memory, that when its even slightly overclocked is a beast.

Seem's the be a very popular chip. Would this give me much performance increase over my current one?

depends what you use the pc for,

some of those charts are lower is better, so as you can see it beats the 6750 at certain apps that like more cores.

the Q6600 runs rather slow, but with its large amounts of cache, and overclocked comes into its own.

In multi-threaded apps, anywhere up to 3x faster if you OC it.

However, ill give a shot OCing your current CPU first, 2.66GHZ is quite low for todays standards and E6750 should do around 3.4-3.5 easily, you'll see a huge improvement when you OC your current CPU to those speeds so I'll give it a try and see how that works for you, then if you still think it's slow, get a Q6600 / Q9450/550/650 or just sell the whole thing and get cheapo 2nd hand AM3 setup.
