Hey guys, I'm thinking of an upgrade for february time when Star Wars: The Old republic hits..

I'm currently running:

Intel E8400 @ 3ghz (Stock) on an Asus P5N-E SLI (Cooled by Noctua UH-12)
4GB PC6400
Corsair 650W Modular PSU
SB X-Fi Music through Creative 5.1 system
60GB Crucial SSD & 2 x Samsung F1 750GB's
ATI 4300 (I think) (Basically my 4809 went pop so I bought this from OcUK for £27 as I don't play games on the pc ATM.)

I'm thinking 1 of 2 routes..

i know the graphics needs repalcing, no 2 ways about that, but would I get away with throwing another 4GB PC6400 (or buying a matched 4 x 2gb) in the system and the new graphics, or would it be more advisable to go for a new motherboard, cpu alongside the graphics.

Opinions welcome? Really not looking to spend over £450, so curious if the extra 4GB RAM and graphics card might see me through..

Thanks

If you're going to upgrade cpu/mobo/ram we can't really help, no idea which mobo's etc.. will be good with Sandy Bridge... but chances are get one of the new i5 (k series) and you'll be doing pretty good - prices shouldn't be too different from current...

Don't think you really need another 4gb of RAM - depends what you're using your comp for, but 4 is more than enough in most cases. That really leaves you with a lot of money for a top range graphics card :)

However wait and see what others say :)

i5-2300
Corsair XMS3 4GB
MSI 5850

Order the graphics card now, order the rest in January/Feb. :p (if you want to overclock you'll need one of the unlocked 'k' chips, however still plenty of time to read up on socket 1155 stuff before it's released)
