I bought my current system about 2 and a half years ago and it's done me proud, i'm only recently starting to see a bit of lag in games and have been having to reduce the graphics settings. Just had a crack at BF3 beta and was stuttering like mad, even at medium settings.
Current spec is as follows using Speccy:
AMD Phenom II X3 720 40 °C
4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz 9-9-9-24
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket M2)
ATI Radeon HD 4870 (XFX Pine Group) 1GB
488.38GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HD501LJ ATA Device (IDE)
My gut feeling tells me just to update the graphics card, however, i'm wondering if the current mobo/ram/cpu setup is good enough to get away with purely updating the graphics card or will it need other upgrades.
Apart from just upgrading the graphics card, is it worth getting another 4870 for xfire or better just to spend the money on a single solid card.
I only game at 1680x1050, nothing huge which is why it's done me well so far.
Any/all advice gratefully received
EDIT: Forgot to mention I have about £150-£200 to spend, £250 absolute maximum.
