hi all

current spec is as follows:

i5 2500k
8gb (4x2) corsair ram
Code:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS
6950 2gb
thermolab baram cooler wth noctua 120mm fan
fractal r3 case
benq 22in TN screen.

the mobo for the above build has gone pop and on monday i will be negotiating a replacement. I have no idea whether the lovely people at ocuk will play ball, but I was thinking selling the 2500k using the credit for the broken mobo towards a new build.

budget is around £450 + price of a new board + 2nd hand value of 6950 + 2500k.
For that I want a new monitor, probably 24", cpu & mobo, new gfx card. Current thinking for the card was 780 or 770. Dont really have a problem with AMD, just the 290s apparently run a bit toasty, and I like to keep the system noise down.

build is for gaming primarily, purchase of bf4 and ghosts is somewhat inevitable.

thanks for any advice!

There's not much wrong with the 2500k - I doubt an upgrade to Haswell would get you too much in terms of performance. Is it overclocked?

A 780 and a monitor looks like a good upgrade, to me.

it was running a very mild overclock, there were some minor stability issues from the board i beleive (and hope) but will be going for a decent oc if i keep it with a replacement board.
