Spec me an upgrade

Not rebuilt for a while so I'm a bit rusty

Currently running
i5-2500K @ 3.30Ghz
4Gb RAM
GeForce 8800 GT
No SSD

Planning on upgrade to Win8.1 and definitely video editing.
Some Gaming but not a high priority.

Thinking about getting new
CPU
MoBo
RAM
SSD
Maybe graphics card if it will make a difference to rendering

looking at spending 300-400

Hi.

Are you using a overclockable motherboard?

• If so overclock that chip and add a fat cooler if you are running stock.

Or you could source a 2600K/2700K or 3770K etc which are all quad core with Hyperthreading.

More RAM and a SSD are also good upgrades.

Win 8.1 running fine on my rig with a few tweaks
So I'll keep it for now
Got another machine to upgrade but I'll do that on a fresh thread

For video editing get at least 8gb total, 16gb preferable.
