Hi.

My mother in law is looking for a new Android phone. She doesn't need fancy but something which is easy to use, has a good battery life, no bloatware but is also not a Fisherprice toy. Budget is NZD $500 (GBP 260-ish)

These seem okay but wondered if I'm missing anything obvious?

  • Oppo A96
  • Oppo Reno8 Lite
  • Samsung A23

Thanks.

I tend to go with last year/year before's flagship TBH. On a Samsung Galaxy S9 that I got when it was 18 months post-release and it still runs great. Still get the odd software update too.

Just generally better long term support for the flagships basically.

i went with the : Samsung A23 5G £350
recently for the security updates of 5years.
the prices and life cycle works out ok.

i'm upgrading from a note4 (purchasd on reallease for extortionet cost) which has done me very well. but samsung dropped the support on it like a lead ball, and work/banking, other apps require updates an security fixs ect.

i didnt want to go apple, price and other things. i looked at the Fairphone4 but in the end cost won out :/ and spec with a querrie over long term support.

Samsung have pledged longerm support on a number of mid range phones.

i suggest getting a phone that is getting long term updates / security fixs. i feel like this is a must and a key driving point. unless your after a burner phone or nights out ect.
but it does depnd what your going to do with the phone.
