Really trying to catch up on things I should have played and have missed

Just blitzed through all the crysis games, loved em and regret doing it before, now onto the next

Battlefield, never played it so Ive got a couple of questions. Do I need to play them all? Is there a story line or can I just grab a copy of bf3/4 and start blowing stuff up?

Also tell me about it, I've never looked into it before is it one of these singleplayer but no point going there unless your going online and doing the full works or is the online stuff optional? Not that I ming online stuff I used to be in a UT2k3 clan but I found it took up a little too much time to be competitive all the time

nah i wouldn't say you need to play all the BF games, mostly quite different from eachother (in terms of setting at least). They do have single player story, but I wouldn't buy the game purely for that. In BF2 the "single player" was basically multiplayer but with bots which was a hoot to be fair xD there is single player in BFBC2 and BF3 where it's a storyline, never completed them though.... would get so far, leave it for a bit then do a wipe of the pc and lose the save game files (even though BF3 i would have though it would have been sensible to save your single player on cloud storage too.... but of well xD) so i've done the BF3 story 3 times now up to the sniper/extraction mission :p

just pick up and play... although BF4 is coming out in a few months so not sure if BF3 would be worth buying.... it's a fun game but dunno if you'd want to splash out the monies just to spend even more again on the new title as it's close.... saying that I probably would buy it xD

battlefield is that by design, a battlefield. (though sometimes more like trollfield) so its biggest aim is at multiplayer, but you don;t have to play "serious competitive". you can do what you like... fancy driving about with C4 on your jeep looking for lonely tanks to blow up? sure GO DO IT! :D there are a vast amount of servers out there with many different play modes and features set in different ways so there will be something for most peoples tastes.

watch some live streams and possibly play on a mates origin to give the game a test :)

By now I would wait till BF4 unless you find BF3 for next to nothing. Also single player is not its strong point, you will find multiplayer will be a steep learning curve where there are people playing with 100's of hours under their belt. Still good fun :)
