Ok I have that upgrade itch again :D

Max £350 hope to stay around 300
Could I get a much better system than I have,, That is would it be much better in real use terms not benchmarks.

Use the PC for a bit of everything,, games / video editing / etc

See my sig, I would be thinking of upgrading the following parts...

Cpu (must be Intel)

Motherboard (like Gigabyte boards with Intel chipset) do gigabyte boards have fan control yet in the Bios like some others ?

Ram (would like 8GB)

CPU Cooler (some OC in mind)

Thanks in advance ;)

Just looking to upgrade the one in my signature, all my other bits should work with the new hardware, unless im wrong

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £161.99
1 x Gigabyte P67A-D3 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £90.98
1 x G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL ) £59.99
Total : £324.96 (includes shipping : £10.00).

used the retail cpu so you have a cooler, you could always get the oem if you want to add a better cooler. Chose the ripjaws cause they have better timing and i think they look better :)

Forgot to include, I might think of OC,ing the new system, if that makes a difference to choice,

I never had much luck OC,ing my current system

Thanks chrisarm

Gigabyte boards are still not so great. I'm with MSI right now for best function and value.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £159.98
1 x MSI P67A-G45 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £99.98
1 x Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G) £47.99
Total : £319.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

This looks spot on! As for the cooler, the Gelid Tranquillo is just a few £ more than the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ and well worth it IMO.

Thanks everyone thats posted so far :p

Seems I might have got ahead of myself,,,
I will be installing win7 on the new build, , BUT seems the version of win7 i got is only 32bit.

8GB going to be wasted!! stick with 4Gb or get another version of win7 64bit ?

Was hoping the extra ram would help with video editing,
but another copy of win7 is going to make upgrading a lot more money.
or do you think working with 4Gb on the new build i will still see an improvment ?

Does that MSI board have fan control in bios ? anyone know

OCZ Vendetta / Vendetta 2 ? thats the only cooler i know from OCZ,
and yes if you have the bracket for 1156 then it will fir with the new setup.

Hi mate, I would still get 8gb considering how cheap it is, you could always get a 64bit os later, as for the fan control, in my P67A GD65 I can control system fan 1 and 2.

I would go with hybrid572's build.
