bit out of the loop the last year or so so looking for some advice on a new build pc for my youngest

i'm looking to spec a budget gaming system with a budget of £500 or so

doable with new parts? i'm not optimistic but if you can offer some specs feel free

otherwise i've no objection to using 2nd hand internals if theres a decent bang for buck available but ideally all new case monitor and peripherals yep thats right i need a full system with monitor kb and mouse not asking for much

couple of my previous builds for the kids

Definitely looking at second hand for the budget and everything you need.. If you can find a nice Pentium G bundle that would be a good buy.

£500 for the entire rig? Definitely better to go used, otherwise the best you'll get is probably a 2c/4t Pentium with a GTX 1050 (maybe Ti).

This was very difficult with all new bits and the PSU and GPU are not the greatest so it would be ideal to change them sooner rather than later

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £629.02 (includes shipping: £18.12)

Sorry gone over the £600 mark that you could only just push to...

Ive had the 1030 and it performed well at 1080p on Medium/High settings in Fifa 18, Project cars and ETS 2... Sorry i couldnt make anything much better.. I think some used components would work a treat for you bud

that's a pretty impressive spec,

I reckon I could pick up some second hand bargains from the MM and get a decent 1080p gaming rig with a quad core for under £600 :)

Seems such a waste when £100 of the budget goes to a copy of Windows. Do you not have a version you can re-use? There are still ways of getting free upgrades to Windows 10 from 7 or 8, or you could buy an OEM copy for like £20. A GT 1030 really doesn't seem worth it over using the iGPU, as cheap as it is, so I'd find a way to get better than that. Also note there's no SSD which is sacrilege IMO. :D

OK £600 (ish) no os required,

cheap and cheerful keyboard and mouse and ideally a 24" monitor :)

looking at a ryzen quad and b350 mobo bundle for £190,
budget £100 for a s/h GPU leaves £410 for

PSU corsair builder @ £70
Case phantek eclipse £65
8gig DDR4 Team group 2x4gig £75
24" monitor AOC VN @ £90
keyboard/mouse LMS bundle @ £10
SSD 850 evo 240gb ssd

decent enough? and only comes to £580 all in
