Hello guys n gals. "is there is any gals" :P

I was looking to purchase a Alienware x51 desktop, then I started to think can I make a small desktop that's more powerful and just as small as the x51 as a rough guide it's about the same size as an PS3/4

my budget is about £500 and below are the specs of the x51

Memory:
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz

Video Card:
1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 645

Driver:
WLAN Card DW1506 Driver

Hard Drive:
1TB (64MB Cache) 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s

Operating System:
Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT) English

CD ROM/DVD ROM:
Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD RW, CD-RW)

Wireless:
DW1506 Wireless-N WLAN Half Mini-Card

Processor:
Intel® Core™ i5-4430 Processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.2GHz with Turbo Boost Technology)

All my games are on steam so I dont need an optical drive. the most important things to remember are I'll be staying in hotels a lot and I need something to keep me occupied hence the small as possible desktop.

So you want a more powerful computer for only £500, when that x51 model (with 8GB RAM, GTX 645 and i5-4430) is sold for around £700?

Did you mean the x51 with 6GB RAM and an i3-4130 that sells at around £600? Or is there a £500 version I'm unaware of?

It really is a laptop you're after. I can't imagine carting a desktop about to hotels, that's just weird

I should have mentioned, that the x51 a friend of mine is selling it for £500 he did indeed pay around £700 from new.

I've looked at laptops, but from the look of it i'd have to spend £800+ just to get a lower high end one.

I agree it would look weird going into a hotel with a desktop, but that's why I want it small console size, all hotels have TVs with HMDI's "ones I've stayed in have anyway" so I wouldn't have to carry in a monitor.
