Spec me: cheap basic system!

Hey all,

Looking to build a PC for someone at work, they want very very basic, no keyboard, mouse or monitor as they already have them, just a base system with a few small requirements:

2ghz + dual core
2gb RAM
300GB HDD
DVD-RW

So pretty much a very basic spec, onboard sound and gfx is fine if there is an option, ideally on the good side of £275, this is a very base spec system for avery base spec person, just gonna be an office 2002/windows xp machine with nothing fancy going on at all!

That is an OEM cpu, which does not come with a heatsink and fan which would cost another £15-£20, so you are better off getting a more powerfull cpu at £57 than a less powerfull cpu and have to buy a heatsink and fan for the same price all in

Not as cheap as the others, but as close to utterly silent as you can get, and has plenty of expanability. It's also raither small, too. I'm currently using one with 8gb of RAM and a Phenom II as a VM Server, which it's laughing at - it's as quick as my main [q6600/8gb] rig, but half the size.

Thanks Steven, but literally after the bare minimum, not interested at all in overspeccing and overcharging someone who will never max out a base system, let alone anything else! But cheers anyways dude
