Hi guys

Am looking to upgrade my rig. And when ram is so cheap at the moment I might as well do it now.

At the moment I have

Athlon xp running at 2.2g
Agp graphics (Cant remember name at moment)
And a gig of ram.

I dont play games anymore but I do output movies and HD content onto my 32 inch Lcd.

I would like a dual core system with motherboard and either a cheap graphics card that will do it or on board. I need a system that can deal with HD content.

Could you guys please spec me

Chip
Motherboard
Ram (2g)
And graphics card if on board wont do.

What is the cheapest you guys thing I could get away with?

I just made this spec for another thread but it's relevant here as well.

I included this processor as a placeholder for the one I think you should get, the "Energy Efficient" X2 3800+. I have one in my HTPC system on an Asus M2NPV-VM and it's fantastic for HD content. The EE edition dissipates just 35 W which means you can run fewer fans or run the fans you have at lower voltages for quieter operation. The mobo in the spec should be just fine if you need HDMI. If you don't the mobo I just mentioned would be my choice. 2 GiB RAM is a bit overkill but since it's so cheap I see little reason not to go for it.
