Hi,

I'm fed-up with rubbish Epson ink-jet printer giving me grief with the ink drying up and blocking the jet. I'm looking for a decent colour printer but don't really want to spend too much money ~£100 to ~£150. I've seen a number of them for around that price. Will be making the odd print of a photo so do these cheap Colour laser printers have the ability to make decent quality prints.

I'm also looking for a cheap scanner for around £30-£40. I've though about getting a two in one but this would mean I can only scan single A4 bits of paper, I think.

Thanks in advance!

How much are colour laser printers these days (sorry for the semi-hijack)? I remember last time I looked when they were still in their infancy about 5 years ago they were getting close to about £1500 :o

So what sort of quality are we looking at for a printer in that price range and also what sort of price should I be paying for one that can make half decent colour photos.

Of course the alternative is to use the printing services at various stores and get a black and white printer for everyday stuff.

Any reccomendations for a printer and scanner.

samsung cpl 300 excellent for colour photos and documents. Will do 500 full colour photos at full resolution on a4 on a set of toner. Full tones set is about 45 to 50 pounds! About 10p per a4 photo! Use them at work. Really tough. Last one i bought was 125 pounds! As for a scanner, no ideas!

Hi Andy,

I can get hold of the Samsung CLP-300 for just £99 which is great but according to the reviews the picture quality is not great. What do you think? I'm not a photographer so as long as its half decent when I print the odd photo It'll be good enough for me.

I also discovered the Samsung CLX-2160 which can be had for £160. I think this is the same printer with a scanner bolted onto it. It looks interesting but I think it would be cheaper to buy a scanner seperately.

Anybody had any experience with the HP Color LaserJet 1600 which is in the same price bracket as the CLP-300.

Thanks!

Sammy colour image quality is very good!

Mine runs portfolio prints and prespectus's very well. It is a little less than full photo quality in intricate images, but in general use it puts mid range to high quality ink jet prints to shame.

Sounds good, I think I'll pick up one of these Samsung printers. Just gotto decide ifI want an integrated scanner or not.

Why not have built in duplex and networking as well. Lexmark are currently giving 100 pounds back of the C530DN. You can get it for 230 + vat so with discount that is 170 including VAT and delivery.
