Hey guys,

I'm looking forward to the release of Assassin's Creed Unity, but I don't think my current GPu is going to be able to handle it as it is (can't remember what GPU I've got, sorry!).

So, could someone please spec me a card at an absolutely max of £250, preferably below £200, that's going to be good for this? I play various games, but AC is the only one that is really heavy hitting, and all run fine on my current card too.

I prefer NVIDIA, btw, and my PC has an i5 3500k at stock speed and 16gb ram, so all good on those fronts I think.

I've been looking at the GPUs in the store, but I can't say I know a great deal about them apart from looking how many GB they are, but I don't think that this is a wonderful indicator of performance.

The one that I've set my eye on thus far is this, or this (added since post #4).

Thanks,

dirtychinchilla

Sorry I have no idea :(....I was going to wait for them myself ..but I hate waiting and got myself a 290 was unsure about getting AMD but so far I'm happy

Sorry not much help

Though Ubisoft is typically in bed with Nvidia, AC: Unity has been developed primarily for PS4 and Xbox: One - Which happen to use AMD GPU's

With regard to the PC version, I do hope they've finally sorted the engine to make full use of the GPU

Even Assassins Creed III and IV were mainly CPU bound for some reason. They didn't really make good use of multi-core/hyper-threading and my GPU usage (290x) is only ever about 40% despite a few frame rate hitches.

What about maybe an XFX 280...a tad over the £200 but you do get a free SSD and free games too :) lol

Hah, any advantage of having this card? I don't need an SSD atm.

Hmm yeah I get a few glitches, but nothing severe. I've never bothered to check the consumption on the actual card whilst I'm playing...good idea :p

So, what's your feeling on the R9 285?
