Hi Peeps.

After having got a linux mail server setup, (postfix et al) I have come to realise that my mail is being junked by a lot of services (hotmail, yahoo etc) GMAIL is the exception and ok's my mail. While the IP is clean, the domain seems to need more done. I have set-up a SPF record with the DNS hoster, but they don't do anything else, ie DKIM etc that is needed to get ones domain email 'de-junked' all rDNS etc is good, I just need DKIM etc setup.

SO... Can anybody spec me a DNS service that allows all the anti-junk mail measures to be taken DKIM et al? Also if anybody has experiences with getting a domain set-up for email, and preventing the email from being junked (from as many places as possible) it would be REALLY appreciated, and you will get an e-beer :D

Tbh I've setup many domains and mail services and never had the problems you've encountered nor needed these special measures.... So I'm left wondering what's different?

Do you have reverse DNS etc on your line? What is the domain? Have you done any DNS / MX reports to see what is going on. Mxtoolbox.com may give you some results.

If your ISP supports it you can relay email through them too. Saves a lot of hassle tbh.

yeah reverse DNS is setup fine. All the tests (SMTP & Blacklist) on MXtools come up fine.

It seem's to just be hotmail it gets put into junk mail, it doesn't get bounced, which is good, it's pretty annoying sending to hotmail (not tested AOL/yahoo as of yet) not knowing if they are in the inbox or junk! most people don't even read junk!

My email is postfix based, and on a VPS (linode), mikeh, what kind of domain / services have you setup ?

Well Exchange without the DKIM (just RDNS and MX record) works fine I'd assume it's something which is sent by postfix (domain not configured corectly?) that's getting it junked.
