Ok im moving back to the UK and i need a brand spanking new machine...Its gonna be in me living room so for appearances sake, i want a sexy little sff jobbie..

and ive fallen in love with the v300...

Ive been away for yonks and ive totally lost touch with everything hardware related..So i need some help from you guys..

I want a good setup that can play the latest games, and play them very well...If a larger gfx is specced im happy to modify the case to get it in..Its also gonna be running to my tv occasionally..

This machine wont be overclocked so dont worry too much about that side of things...

budget isnt really that much of an issue but its gotta be reasonable..

Thanks guys..

PS, i wasnt sure whether this went in here or in the main hardware section...hope i got the right one..

**moved into GH cos the other forum appears to be the wrong one**

I've left out the Lian Li V300 because it's out of stock atm. Don't know if the X1800XT will fit in the case or not.

looks good but would change the 1800 to a 1900xt since you have a bit more to spend... and maybe get a gigabyte DS4 mobo

Or an x1900xt...

500gb storage, quiet cooling, fast and leaves space for the case and other changes to be made (seasonic PSU would be better for an HTPC but they are out of stock)

Theres no issue with matx boards and the core2duo chips? the matx boards that support them are ok?

cheers for your help guys...its been such a long time since i built anything.

Thing is theres hardly any matx boards that support the Core 2 Duo at the moment.

Only one OCUK stocks is the Asus P5VD2-MX with a VIA chipset.

Don't know whether its just me but I'd rather have an Intel Chipset motherboard over anything else.

No doubt over the coming weeks we should see more motherboards supporting the Core 2 Duo being released along with matx.

Is that a definite within the coming weeks? cos im kind of in a rush to get this sorted...:o always been too impatient heh..but i have to wait for the case anyway i guess..

Is it that big of an issue that its worth waiting for?>

won't the lower operating temps of the core2duo mean that ventilation should be less of an issue than with most other intel chips?

Well, that VIA mobo utilises Single-Channel DDRII 533 rather than Dual Channel of the Intel boards for a start, plus it most probably doesn't have all the goodies found with the Intel chipset.
