Get the crucial M4 instead of the Sandisk. It's on special at only £89 and is generally the best value and most reliable SSD.
Also, go for the GTX670 rather than the 680 as there isn't much difference in performance but £100 difference in price.

SLI 580 GTX for 200 quid each is very good value, it will outperform 680 by about 40% for the same price.... However they only have 1.5gb vram each, could be a worry...

This CPU has 12 threads and 6 cores.

With that Mobo, running SLI should not raise temperature issues since the slots are far away from each other

Corsair H100 should fit into case since the top fans, could be exchanged for 2x140mm...

All of this is an overkill though, for gaming as mentioned above 3570K will be fine with single 580... Although I saw that you wanted something close to 1700 so I showed you.

Samsung Green RAM is the ram to get these days, overclocks like a beast.

That Motherboard was made for overclocking and pushing the system to the max.

Windforce come highly recommended as coolers. Got the i7 for your video editing processes, massive SSD, loads of storage, PSU that is more than enough for SLi, 16GB of RAM again better for video editing processes (and why not? it's so cheap?), top CPU cooler, great mobo and all in a BIG case that imo looks great and despite its age still keeps it cool and for £110 I'd still choose it. Depending on resolution or when games move on etc, whack another 670 in there and BOOM, fresh top gaming rig again.

^That rig is Overkill Plus Over Budget!
And I don't recommend starting with Sli I suggest a stronger card to start with.

Guy asked not to go over 1700... well delivery costs, whats wrong with getting overkill PC if its within your budget? Whats wrong with SLI if its same price and performs 40% better than "Stronger card (680)" You can go 3 way 580 easily if you wanted to. Keeping in mind that most suggested 670 and not 680, You can easily move my build into 1600 by choosing a cheaper Motherboard...

Today`s overkill PC tomorrow will be average Joe`s :/

No, I don't agree with the fact that you have put x2 Gtx 580's in the basket;

You may as well pay for the 7970-680 Since 580's is overkill anyway, it's old technology may as well get 22nm, cooler, use less power, 1.5gb's of vram Is Horrible for games Like Bf3 and Skyrim and Crysis that easily go over 2gb's of vram In some cases and It wont give you much headroom for the future. Plus if you get a 680 or 670 or 7970, you can always grab another, their is also problems with Sli and crossfire most of the time especially with Newer drivers and Older cards

As for gpu's I suggest this,
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-152-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938

it comes with 3 Games and has a Higher clock speed then most Gtx 680's and is quite a bit cheaper! :D

As for that rig, Cpu is Overkill for gaming even video editing, I suggest dropping to a i7 3770k and Ocing it then instead grab 16gb memory with the left over £££ and then grab a nice z77 Mobo, there are quite a few Nice Mobo's out their Such as:

Akward moment when GTX 580 SLI 1.5gb performs better FPS wise than 7970, in all games you mentioned above for same price, I dont know what you own that in bf3 it "easily goes over 2gb" I play on ultra and never goes past 1300 same goes for skyrim...

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/508?vs=584

Here is 680

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/584?vs=555

For me, a person who unless gets value for money cant sleep, the SLI GTX is a smart choice, I wouldnt be able to buy 7970 knowing that it will run bf3 on 72 fps while for same price GTX 580 would do it on 120... With this in mind, next crysis or battlefield that will come out, will be playable on GTX SLI on ultra while 7970 will struggle greatly... Especially once FPS fall, 10fps will make difference between choppy and smooth game play e.g 25fps vs 35fps. Once you decide to Crossfire that 7970 you go and end up spending 2wise more than GTX SLI and dont get great results when you find out GTX 580 SLI beats 7970 crossfire in some games and when it doesnt, fps difference is minimal about 5-14 fps...

You do have a point though about new technologies ect ect... But 200 quid for 580 is a great price and great value for money.

Ha, I've seen people talk about going over 1.5gb a lot especially in heavy modded games with Hd textures packs, Plus that Gtx 580 is refrence, He is going to be buying a Non- refrence 7970 or gtx 680 So their will be much better performance gain.

You can oc these things like crazy and those benchmarks are from when games/video cards are just released you realise that there's been a ton of patches and new drivers for video cards and Games so they perform different now.

I don't know what your On about when you say "Gtx 580 is better then a 7970 for these games" take a look at this.

Facepalm, I never compared SINGLE 580 vs 7970... There is about 200 pounds difference between 580 and 7970, you cant even compare them :/

So with this in mind you are saying that 580 GTX SLI performs worse than SINGLE 7970 in games?

So lets get this straight, you admitted that 580 SLI is better pefromer than 7970 it carries pretty much same price... But in the end buying 580 SLI over 7970 is stupid and waste of money according to you ? :D

Even though if you Crossfire 7970 on a later date, the FPS rate in games will not be much higher than 580 SLI and sometimes even lower, and you will end up paying 2 wise much for 7970 Crossfire than 580 SLI....

So where is your argument?? You`re saying that SLI/Crossfire is stupid, while arguing to get 7970 so that you can Crossfire later on, even though its bad value for money to do so against gtx 580.

Are you a Troll Sir?

No, I can't be asked with you, I've stated the reasons why I think it's a bad decision and 1 card is always Better because of drivers, Heat, not Much of a performance gain, you could get a Much cheaper really damn good Non reference 7970, can Oc them Like crazy too and these Gtx 580's you speak of are crappy reference Ones, they cost more, less Vram, Not future proof at all Plus 22nm. All for maybe 10-15 Fps Boost? I don't think so :)

There is 50 fps difference in bf3... Future proof, what are you talking about?? If you say that 10-15 fps is not significant which is all you going to get against SLI 580 if you Crossfire 7970, you`ll just end up paying 2 times more.

Future proofness is 0 in your case.

I am not going to argue with you any more, we have different views and thats great, sadly I dont seem to see common sense in your ideas, so further discussion is useless.

Dude, that's One game and it's not like your going to constantly stay at 120Fps. Plus those 580's Like I've said are OEM + Non reference, What's the point? may as well buy a 670 or 7970 and as for crossfire It's really not needed unless he wants more fps.

Try not to fill the thread with graphics card arguments!

I'd suggest a GTX670, since it uses little power for great performance, and you can add another later.
