I would suggest going i7 or amd am3/an2+ at this pint, s775 is going to die and i don't thing the newer quad core would be that much of an improvement
Currently I'd suggest goiing with ati unless a you play a lot of physx enabled games or b want to use a cuda program like badaboonm
I personally went for an i7 with an ati card
psu is up to an i7 plus 489-, rrecently built a computer for a cousin
don't neglect you data storage substem, the computer is only as slow as it's slowest part
alternatively if you are willing to overclock your current processor and keep your current motherboard and ram, I would suggest getting the 4890, additional cooling for you processor and an ssd drive to use for OS and programs and a 1tb drive for storage
The ssd will make the system feel very snappy and cut boot/load times
If you've already got a Q6600 i can't see there being much difference with a Q6700 spec system, you'd have to go i7 if you want a step up from that or maybe look at the Q9xxx range of quads. Is this a new spec to replace your current Q6600 or are you building this for someone?
