hey guys, im looking to build a new gaming system. now for 700 quid i dont expect to be on the knifes edge of speed or power but i would like to get the best value for money and thought where better to do that than these forums.

what i need parts wise is;

case
power supply
cpu
a gd cpu cooler (not 1 that will make to much noise tho)
graphics card
mother board

iv already got a hdd / soundcard and the dvd burner for it

believe me, this is pretty much on the knifes edge of speed/power =) you should be able to clock the e8400 pretty high with the asus mobo and the noctua cooler, also the 4870 is better than any nvidia offering by quite a margin at this time and the 1gig version is good for monitors with resolution including 1920x1200 and above, if you have below that then save some money by getting the 512mb version:

or you can get a factory overclocked one with what seems a very good aftermarket cooler for some more:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...&subcat=939&name=Gainward ATI Radeon HD 4870 "Golden%20Sample"%20512MB%20GDDR5%20TV-Out/Dual%20DVI/HDMI%20(PCI-Express)%20-%20Retail

the 620w psu is easily enough for that setup and its modular which is really good for cable management, especially coupled with the antec 300's cable management area which i'v got =)
