ive got about £850 for a gaming machine to take to uni.

either i
1. Get a gaming laptop

2. Buy a barebones system with monitor

3. Build a normal PC with monitor

obviously portability is important, but performance more so. specs on either the barebones or pc would be nice.

thanks

void.

I already have both OS's so dont need to buy them. i dont know how much time ill have for gaming and tv, but if you can get in the budget ill take a look :)

Hes just listing sugested parts rather than making a full spec.
Id suggest not going for a laptop, but instead go for a desktop and a portable external hard drive.

My brother got a laptop supplied for him because of his dyslexia, but hated carrying it to uni saying a external hard drive worked loads better.

What subject are you studying at uni ? if its graphics design or something then its obviously going to need a much better spec than say "golf course management" (yes that is a real degree  ).

My bad that it doesnt include Speakers but i am thinking you can pick up a cheap pair, If you are up to it that processor will reach 3ghz on some reports but entirely depends on the chip, you should be able to reach past 2.4ghz atleast.

That is a Mid sized case i have chosen their, how much would you be taking it around with you, You might be better off with a Lanbox if you will be constantly moving.

My E2140 oc's to 3ghz easily, but you might have problems with cooling if your planning on using a micro atx, especially if youve got a gts in it.
Might want to go for the cheaper 320mb version of the gts, there hasnt been masses of performance difference between them.

But the Extra Ram does show to be more usefull at higher resolutions when the textures are getting far from compressed.
