For a assignment I have to create a simple website, similar to an in depth BBC article, and embed a program I have written in C++ into it. Unfortunately, my university's attitude to this assignment is to assume that everyone taking this module knows how to make a website and has the software to do it, but I barely know any HTML and have no web design software available to me that I can find (if the university computers have web design software available then I don't recognise it by name). Literally the only thing they have done that is even remotely helpful is to provide me with a place that the website can be hosted. The only time I have made anything resembling a website was about 7 years ago for GCSE ICT and I have no idea what software was used, but I remember it being almost entirely graphical, which would be very helpful.
So, if someone could recommend any free software, or even software that comes with a 1 month free trial without many features disabled, which is simple enough for a complete novice to make a basic webpage that would be fantastic. As I said, I really need to be able to embed a program written in C++ (coded in Visual studio 2012 if that makes any difference), and I have no idea how easy/difficult that is to do.
Also, if you could fire out names of the more popular paid for web designers then I could have a look to see if my university's computers actually have that software.
Apologies for having to ask such a basic question, and thanks for any help you can give me.
