Hi,

I'm looking for a new gaming system which will also be used for watching videos, browsing and to hook up to my 50" 3d TV via HDMI.

I am wanting a system that is quiet and discreet.

I would be looking for keyboard, mouse and headphones as well.

I would also be wanting A copy of windows 7.

My budget is around £1000 +/- £300.

Also, does anyone know if OCUK will assemble and overclock my custom spec?

Thanks in advance!

Just a few questions.

1. Do you have any components you can re-use, sata drives(hdd/optical),psu or monitor.

2. Do you have a preference for AMD or Nvidia cards.

3. Are you likely to want to xfire/sli in the near future. This will effect your choice of mobo.

4. What type of games will you mostly play. Gives some idea to what cards to suggest.

And yes OCUK will assemble and OC for you, at a price.
Much more satisfiying to do it yourself. There are also plenty of guides on assembly and OC`ing.

1. I have Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 PSU, my current monitor will be re-used and I have a HDD that I could also re-use. I would be wanting a SSD to compliment though.
2. As for GFX cards, i've had both AMD and Nvidia, im not too fussy as long as its powerful but not too noisey. I currently have a 4650 x2 and it makes my ears bleed!
3. I would look to xfire/sli to upgrade in the future
4. I play mostly FPS games such as Battlefield 3, NS2 etc.

Idleman's spec is fine, however it's really up to you about the keyboard and mouse - you can go much cheaper on those and still get good stuff. I personally find the gaming mice/keyboards to be more difficult to use because I've used decent office type mice for years and years. Likewise the case you could cut back on - although it's a very nice case he's recommended. You shouldn't think about changing the mobo/CPU/memory he's recommended, there's no better choices I think. The graphics card is outside of the bang for buck area, but so is the amount of money you're proposing to spend, that is one area you could cut back a little on. I assume you'd be gaming at 1080p in which case that graphics card is more than enough.

Get a retail i5 2500K as it has a Year warranty, shiny retail box and a stock intel heatsink/fan.

As The Halk says, you can save on keyboard/mouse, cooler and case. There are cheaper alternatives. The case will be your personnel choice.
The spec i posted was to give you some idea of what you could get at the higher end of your budget. At the end of the day its your money, your choice.

Just woke up?:D

Thanks for the advice guys. As far as the case goes, I did state I am looking for something a little understated and discreet. Also, has noise levels been considered with this build, i.e. gfx and cpu cooling fans etc.

Thanks again!!

There's plenty of mid towers that are tasteful. I have the Fractal Design R3 Pearl for example and that's exactly what it is, but there's a crowd in the market at that point. Lots to choose from.

Sweet thanks for the suggestions. Can anyone tell me if that mobo supports wifi? or if any good motherbopards support wifi? Not essential but if i had a wifi option it would be handy!

Although the cooler you suggested is cheaper, its a bit big for the case i specced.

A50 159.5mm x 124.6mm x 81.2mm
Gelid 74 x 125 x 153mm (L x W x H)
CM Silencio Max CPU Cooler Height: 154mm
