Thinking of moving there in Feb once my flat tenancy is up.

Plusses from what i can see

1. Its on the right side of the m25 so it will be a shorter drive back home to cornwall (currently in Essex and despite the typecasting i do like it here! i just want to get a bit closer to home)
2. It has a train link into waterloo which is close enough to work to walk and avoid tubing
3. It has a shuttle link to Gatwick so it will be handy for holidays
4. It just looks pretty :)

So what are the downsides? Anyone live there? Spill da beanz.

Downsides:
- It's expensive
- There's a few dodgy areas (Park Barn)
- Traffic can get a bit crazy

It's definitely one of the nicer commuter towns though. I used to live about 5 minutes walk from the town center and it was awesome.

i used to live in guildford and my cousin has just moved there. as said stay well clear of park barn and bellfields. Full of prossies and crackheads (unless that's your thing).

Centre of guildford is expensive to rent. train to waterloo takes 35 minutes. lots of young scantily clad ladies due to the university and college. nightlife used to be good but can't comment on it recently.

It's ok. We have offices there and I sometimes stay over for the night.

It's probably just like any other UK town. No better and certainly no worse.

In short, I'd live there if I had to.

Really nice area generally. I live fairly near ( although nearer woking) but the area is generally good...apart from the cost!

Nice place. I live in Esher and go there for shopping sometimes (nice high street and even has a castle around the corner). The Spectrum is good for kids (water park, ice skating, etc). Near the m25 and trains onto London Waterloo so transport is ok.

I used to live in Guildford now in Haslemere just 17miles south, its a great place to live, good shops etc, dont live in Park Barn and you cant go wrong. Only downside is traffic can be a bit like London

Park Barn isn't THAT bad, Jesus Christ some people do bloody exaggerate.

Guildford is nice, very pricey though, but offers a lot :)

It's ok, a place for the rich really. Horrible nightlife but good shopping, bars and eating places.

I live a few miles away, but prefer to travel a a few more the other way. Great access however to A3

well im open to suggestions :) i just want to be that side of the m25. Hasslemere seems nice, flats are a lot cheaper to rent and the train ticket is about the same. Ive got 2 or 3 months to decide anyway.
