'evening folks,

I could do with a new crash helmet. Mine's a few years old now, plus I'm now 20 so my head has grown a fair bit :p.

My current one was a cheap and cheerful Bieffe. Dad's current one is a Bell of some description (nice design and has a front chin spoiler).

I'll be using it in both an open cockpit car (Westfield mainly, Raical/Ultima occasionally) and closed cockpit cars (generic tintops). My Bieffe is my first and only helmet, so I don't know if the aerodynamics/spoilers on ones specifically designed for open cockpit cars actually make a difference or not?

What do you have?

Are any of the makes better than the others? Obviously I'll need it to conform to the regs but Arai, Bell, Sparco and OMP.... how do I chose?

Go to a shop and try them all on, get the one that feels the most comfortable?

Thats what I did...

Oh definitely, I'm gonna go to Merlin's and try a few on. Find out what size I am in each make (but I obviously don't expect them to have every make/model/size combination in stock!)

Bell Vortex 2 and Bell KF1 Ultra SV are the two I'm leaning towards, depending on whether the aerodynamic shell & front chin spoiler are any good or a waste of time.

It's just that I'm jumping at Bell because that's what Dad's is, so I'm interested in why people here chose what they did.
