Just had the renewal through from More Than for my home contents insurance. Thought I'd do a bit of shopping around, the usual direct line, money supermarket, virgin money, and even back to more than website to compare a new quote. Shocked to discover a new quote would be £40 cheaper.

Rang up more than to see if they would price match their own website, lady tried to jiggle with my quote and managed to save £3. Said the online price will go up after the first year, informed her I could just cancel and sign up again then too, she was stumped, no idea what to do.

Why is it new customers are more important than old ones? New online discount is obviously more than no claims discount, and loyalty!

Anyone recommend and good home insurance? Pro's / Cons of dealing with them?

If I switch, don't want someone with a bad reputation incase the worse happens.

Thanks.

I've just switched to More> Both their contents and building insurance saved me around £200 a year, as I was paying for them seperately. You have to be carefull though.. You may get a deal where you pay less than your current insurance providers but at what cost? Be sure to check what is and what is not being covered.

We're with More >. Gave us a decent quote online last July (we were new customers so I guess got a bonus for that) then when we moved house around Christmas I found them to be very helpful and efficient.

Give Barclays a try, they will guarantee to match any quote and if they can't you'll get £50

HSBC have an offer, where you get 3 months free insurance. This offer is only for new customers only tho
