One of many choices. The Corsair XMS is at bargain price atm.

EDIT : I broke my own rule, specced a 2600K OEM. Oh well...

No just the 3 items. I have a corsair 620 Watt psu already. I have arctic silver already and get free delivery :)

Ideally I want to spend as little as possible but i also dont want to buy the cheapest of everything!

olivier renault, thanks for the spec.

Corsair memory is best value, and the most specced yet no complains. £65 for 8GB is hard to pass. Higher spec memory wont bring much performance so can stick with 12800C9.

Best value board is the GD53 (out of stock). Second would be the GD65. Else worth thinking of cheap Z68 which ain't bad.

I would pick up the 2600K retail. for the warranty. Maybe worth shopping around for an expensive item such as this.

As for coolers, it depends but a Venom / A50 would give decent results (4.4GHz, maybe more). Gelid Tranquillo for quiet and still decent cooling. The 2600K doesn't clock as high as 2500K due to hyperthreading, but it's still respectable.

For gaming get an i5 2500k over the i7. Also you'll struggle to see the benefits of 8GB of RAM with gaming. That should save you a bit of money.

olivier renault the ocuk shopping cart viewer is cool :)

shadow_boxer, for the price of the ram i may as well stick with 8GB although your point is good.

If the GD53 were to come back into stock how would the following look?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor £173.99
1 x MSI P67A-GD53 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £109.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £65.99
Total : £349.97 (includes shipping : FREE)

That's what I'd reccommend anyway. Don't see the need for an i7 or 8GB of ram. If you insist on an i7 and 8GB ram then just add £30 for the extra 4GB ram and £80 for the i7. Obviously minus a tenner for postage.

For gaming the i5-2500k is just as good as the i7-2600k but a lot cheaper, games aren't using more than 4 cores.

XMS3 is well regarded around here as others have said.

The MSI mobo is well respected here too and is a great overclocker at a great price.

Good solid cooler for hitting those nice overclocks, if you really want to push your overclock hard look at something more expensive like the Corsair H50, Noctua NH-D14 (currently out of stock), etc. But that one will do you good at like 4.6ghz.

Edit: Just saw your last post and the GD53 is also a great board if you want to wait till its in stock. I was going to order one tomorrow but ill be going with the GD65 since its out of stock and i dont want to wait ;)

If you are impatient an alternative to the GD53 would be the Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H.

Same price, CF/SLI compatible, 6 SATA connections but its an mATX sized board and has less USB ports than most motherboards (can't remember the number though lol) but yeah, something to think about.

PC all installed with a few pics taken. Will post later.

When the PC boots there are probably around 5 beeps before it loads into Windows. 2 of these are for the 2 USB devices i have plugged in. These go when the devices are removed. So this leaves 1 beep and a 2 beep. The PC seems to be working fine. Are these beeps normal?

I have reseated gfx and memory. Tried booting with 1 of each but the same

Thanks.
