So climbing Snowdon this year and going to be in Liverpool for 2 nights as our base of operations, arriving on the lunchtime of Saturday the 30th April and leaving Monday evening which is 2nd May and a bank holiday weekend. Doing the climb on the Sunday morning so thinking we'll have to keep it civil drinks wise on the first night (well still need to have a few) but wouldn't mind trying some decent spots on the Sunday evening, hopefully with it being a bank holiday there should still be decent nightlife scene?

It's four guys and certainly wouldn't mind checking our some historical attractions during the day, great and reasonably priced food would go down nicely and suppose since we're there see if there's anything Beatles related that's worth doing? Just to get the first reply out the way, we are fully expecting our car to be stolen but other than that what can OCUK recommend to do whilst we're there?

You're climbing Snowdon over two days on a Bank Holiday Weekend and staying in Liverpool?

Have fun on the A55! :D

Well yeah not really a climb, more an excuse to do something and we have done Scafel and Ben Nevis the two previous years so may as well do all the Peaks.

It's horrific on bank holidays. You'll need to get there at about 7am in the morning to be able to get a parking space on the Sunday if the weathers decent! If you have to park on the verge down near Pen Y Gwryd, make sure you park on the Conwy side otherwise you'll get hit with a nice fine.

Food wise in Liverpool.. Nolita Cantina, Rookwood Bar & Cue, Italian Club Fish and Reds True BBQ are all worth checking out off the top of my head. There are loads of good places on or around Bold Street though.

I'll echo what Street said both regarding Snowdon and Liverpool, adding 23 Hope Street to the restaurant list :D

If you want historical stuff then the Albert Dock is always worth checking out, and the Beatles Museum is there too if that's something you want to take a look at.

23 Hope Street isn't exactly cheap...

If you like Tha, Chaophraya is really good. They have a fancy bar attached too.

As for things to see, I'm not really a fan of the whole Beatles thing. You can walk across the whole city centre sights maybe an hour.

There are some really good museums you can visit. They're free to get in and can be done in around 2 hours each depending on how much you like to stop and read. The Maritime museum is the best one in my opinion but if you go to Lime Street train station it is difficult not to be in awe of St George's hall. The docks are near the Maritime museum but there isn't a massive amount to see unless you like art.

You'll barely even make a dent in Liverpool with that amount of time, it's an incredibly diverse city and despite having lived here my whole life, I'd say I've covered a good 2%.

Food wise like Street has said above you're probably better off just checking out the main streets, there are hundreds of options. My individual recommendation for a bunch of lads would be Almost Famous on Parr Street, they do some truly outrageous burgers (ever had cheerios on a burger? I have, twice!).

There are hundreds of bars about, some more geared towards the students, some not. For a more classy option I'd recommend Berry and Rye (if you can find it) on Berry street, it's a "knock on the door and see if there's space" jobby, but it does some brilliant drinks once you're in. For a simpler option, there's an easier to find and very lively Brewdog round the corner that does decent food too. As for your comment on wondering how it'll be on a Sunday: With Liverpool's heavy student population, every night is busy here, so I wouldn't worry.

In the day, there's obviously a lot of cultural stuff surrounding The Beatles, the cathedrals etc. (you can go down into the catholic cathedrals crypt if you want, only found out about this yesterday!). We've also got a pretty good Chinatown (largest Chinese style arch - forget the term for it - outside of China!), and plenty of museums. The Liverpool Museum is pretty interesting (did you know the last surrender of a ship in the US civil war happening in the River Mersey?), as is the Maritime Museum (which currently has a Titanic exhibit on). The Albert Dock is just a generally nice place to hang around and has a few bars and restaurants (though they try to be a bit poncier than some, unsuccessfully).

Further afield you've got loads of activities you can go and do between the mountains and Liverpool (GoApe, ZipWorld etc.) and also some wildlife stuff like the Red Squirrels in Formby (though I realise this might not appeal to your group).

Can't think of anything else right now, but like I said, I've barely scratched the surface of this place :)!

It's a 150 mile round trip to Llanberis from Liverpool - crackers base IMO.

To be fair, it's not that bad a drive. I drive to Snowdonia most weekends and very rarely does it take me longer than an hour and a half.

I keep meaning to go there, might give it a go after the beer festival this weekend if I remember.
