Spec Me: Media Server

looking to build a media server to use around the house, don't really wanna spend much, looking around £250 maybe a little more. The case will need to hold a few drives so have been looking at the Coolmaster Elite 335 or Xigmatek Midguard nothing on the huge side. If possible a gigabit port as this will be stored upstairs out of the way.

Do not need PSU or Hard drives.

Any help much appreciated :cool:

Anyone improve any of these, Already have a Corsair 650w PSU:

Xigmatek Midgard
Asus P5QPL-AM iG41
Crucial 2GB DDR2 800M x2 (4gb)
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300

Total £215

or

Xigmatek Midgard/Coolermaster Elite 335

Corsair XMS2 4GB

Total £251

I think you could probably go for 2Gb of RAM; media servers don't need much

yes i would agree with chrisgreen there. Media servers do not require that much ram.

I've done a few builds in the 335,and its a great case for the price.

thanks guys, think i will go with the first one as the coolmaster case seems to of gone upto £90 odd on OCUK :eek:

(misprice?)

Also the reason for 4GB was again OCUK only have ddr2 ram in 4GB kits.

Definitely a misprice....mine cost me under £30 on a Special...

i would like to build a pc that will hold a few drives with room to add more if needed (1tb, 2tb ect) and store it out of the way so that me & others will be able to stream movies, music from.
